La Douloureuse

"La Douloureuse" tells the story of a condition that takes an average of seven years to diagnose. Seven years of suffering, of doubt, of being told that it’s normal, that all women experience pain, and that you just have to deal with it. Seven years during which the body sends signals that medicine is slow to recognize. Endometriosis affects one in ten women. It impacts daily life, work, relationships, and plans for motherhood. It isolates. The words inscribed on this sculpture are those that women often carry alone, for far too long.
