Exhibition - Totemes, Portraits of Women
March 1–22, 2026
"Collective Hysteria" was presented at the Emergenc'Art gallery in Petit-Bourg as part of the group exhibition "Totems – Female Portraits" during the 2026 Cri de Femmes Festival.
Since 2012, the French edition of the Cri de Femmes Festival has been the pet project of Stéphanie Melyon-Reinette, an artist, curator, and activist. Founded in Paris, it has since made a name for itself from Paris to Guadeloupe, via Martinique and Réunion, as well as in collaborative and intercultural editions: New Delhi (India, 2015 & 2016), Cuba, and Miami (2018).
"The group exhibition Totems invites artists to explore what a totem might be—that is, 'a sedimented myth.' Perhaps a new chimerical form, or even a sanctified ancestor. Through what mystification or symbolism can we mythologize the beings who surround us, give birth to us, protect us, bring us into the world, and grant us the freedom to walk in the flesh, as if carried by the ether?"
